v1.1.2 Stable
released this
2026-10-25 12:43:10 +00:00 | 1 commits to main since this releaseToki 1.1.2
This release prepares Toki for distribution through F-Droid and Google Play, with reproducible builds as well as store descriptions and screenshots. It also adds an in-app privacy policy, explicitly opts out of Android's cloud backup, and makes some minor layout fixes.
Changes since v1.1.1:
- Added app store descriptions and release changelogs in UK English, US English and Japanese, together with an icon, feature graphic and eight screenshots.
- Adjusted APK packaging and added public rebuild instructions to support independently verifiable and reproducible F-Droid releases. AAB app bundles for Google Play will retain their dependency metadata, but their resulting APKs will be verifiable against the source through a
transparency key. - Added a privacy policy for Toki accessible from the bottom of the About page and summarised on the ian2 website's own privacy policy.
- Explicitly disabled Android's automatic cloud backup of app data (previous Forgejo builds 1.0.0 to 1.1.1 used the device's setting). Local phone-to-phone migration remains available on Android 9 and later; Android 8–8.1 disables app-data backup where it cannot enforce that distinction.
- Adapted Clocks and Compare to shorter screens, keeping clock faces, date markers and clock-change notes clear and readable. This particularly helps older 16:9 phones and layouts with less usable height. On all devices, scrolling lists now fill complete visible rows before the next clock appears below the fold.
- Smoothed tutorial steps by fading the content with the resize on each step, while removing the effect from Map cards where the transition should be instant.
F-Droid and Google Play submissions are being prepared. Their listing will be linked when they are live.

2026-10-24 09:01:26 +00:00 | 2 commits to main since this releaseToki 1.1.1
This bugfix release fixes a regression introduced in v1.1.0 which made the splash screen icon appear blurry on some Android 12+ devices.
Changes since v1.1.0:
- Restored Android 12+'s native splash icon, while simplifying the Android 8–11 launch screen to a simple native window background without the compatibility library.

v1.1.0 Stable
released this
2026-10-24 06:25:07 +00:00 | 3 commits to main since this releaseToki 1.1.0
Toki's second release, v1.1.0, improves compatibility with older Android versions, refines the tutorial and animations, and updates the bundled time-zone data for map boundaries and descriptions.
Changes since v1.0.0:
- Smoothed the tutorial animations and made the bubbles draggable; made it possible to resume from the same screen.
- Made reordered clocks settle more smoothly on Clocks and Compare.
- Updated the bundled IANA data from 2026c to 2026e with updates for Canada and Ireland, plus the accompanying boundaries from timezone-boundary-builder. Current and future clock rules still follow the device's own version of the database.
- Improved compatibility for older devices: fixed the blurry Map on Android 8–8.1 Oreo by adding a software-rendering path and optimised responsiveness. Fixed a crash on Android 8–8.1 Oreo and 9 Pie by adjusting regex on the About page. Added alternative splash screen for Android 8–11.
- Added an Appearance option to keep the Map in its light palette while the rest of Toki is in dark mode.
- Filled the blanks in Antarctica with a bundled boundary tappable as "No mapped time zone".
- Fixed a bug where in-progress clock edits would resume attached to the wrong clock if the app is restored from a turned off screen mid-edit.
- Fixed truncated buttons on the Edit screen.
- Made the list of clocks appear faster when adding and searching, by preparing the search index in the background.
- Fixed a tiny flash when switching map cards when they were dragged to the top of the screen.
- Reduced upper washi/sumi spacing on phones with camera cutouts.
- Added link to ian2.dev next to logo on About page with a glyph.
- Removed hidden Developer options from settings screen now that tabular digits and current-hour reserve are settled as the clock style. Sun orb on the Clocks screen always shows the current time in preparation for upcoming sunset times and other data in future releases.
- Clarified the README's wording, source-build requirements and Android runtime minimum.

v1.0.0 Stable
released this
2026-09-28 08:51:44 +00:00 | 4 commits to main since this releaseToki 1.0.0
Toki 1.0.0 is the first public release of a world clock that displays time, daylight and place in a calm, colourful interface. It features a clocks screen, side-by-side time/daylight comparison and an interactive world map in a fully offline Android app.
- Add clocks for the places you choose, with local times and daylight shown at a glance. Clocks can be renamed or given custom coordinates to reflect the way they see the sun.
- Compare places side by side at the present moment or another date and time, with selectable time ranges and visible daylight-saving or UTC-offset changes.
- Travel through historical time to explore unusual offsets, repeated or skipped dates and other local-time curiosities.
- Explore time zones and daylight around the world on the Map. Its boundaries follow time zones rather than countries, while the shading shows which places share the same time at the selected instant.
- Search by canonical time-zone locations as well as additional major cities and regional capitals, all resolving to the underlying zone.
- Use Toki in UK English, US English or Japanese, with app language, appearance and 12/24-hour time settings controlled independently.
Offline by design
Toki requires no Android permissions, accounts or network connection and contains no advertising or tracking.
Time-zone rules, including UTC offsets and daylight-saving transitions, come from the device's own IANA database, allowing Toki to follow system time-zone updates without an app release. Names, coordinates, search data, coastlines and zone boundaries are bundled for offline use from versioned upstream sources.
Localisation
Toki 1.0.0 ships with UK English, US English and Japanese, with other languages planned for future releases provided they receive appropriate human review. Regional English differences are checked explicitly, while complete translations are reviewed in full against the English source so that changed or missing text cannot silently fall back in a release.
Library translations are also limited to Toki's supported languages, preventing mixed-language dialogs or pickers when the device uses another language.
Source release
This release establishes Toki's first public source milestone. The v1.0.0 tag contains the buildable app and core logic together with its tests, data-generation tooling, localisation resources, bundled assets, provenance records, licences and public documentation.
The complete app is free to download from this release. Google Play will be linked when its listing is live, and submission to F-Droid is planned.
